Meeting of the “Grupo de Investigación de Cristales Líquidos y Polímeros” from UNIZAR (12 September 2013)

Scientific visit of the “Grupo de Cristales Líquidos y Polímeros” from the University of Zaragoza and meeting of the research group.

ISAPP School 2013 (International School of Astroparticle Physics) (14-23 July 2013)

From July 15 until July 23 the “International School on Astroparticle Phisics” (ISAPP 2013) was held at the LSC headquarter premises. This is a well-established doctorate school in the field of astroparticles. The speakers were both national and international teachers and researchers experts in this field and around 40 doctorate students from different countries which are developing their work in this subject participated in the school.
As well as the lessons on July 18 Carlos Pobes, Doctor in Physics, gave a public talk at the LSC auditorium about his experience of a year at the South Pole collaborating with the neutrinos experiment “Icecube” which was a great success filling all the available spaces at the auditorium.

III Conference on the Management of Singular Scientific and Technical Facilities (13-14 June 2013)

During June 13 and 14 the “III Conference on the Management of Singular Scientific and Technical Facilities (ICTS)” took place at the LSC premises with the aim to discuss and share several issues related to the management of such singular facilities.
On this occasion, as well as the LSC representatives, which hosted the event, other centers such as the “Laboratorio de luz de Sincrotrón Alba”, the “Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias”, the “Centro Nacional de Investigación Sobre la Evolución Humana”, the “Centro Nacional del Hidrogeno” and the “Centro de Láseres Pulsados” attended the meeting.

International Meeting of the NEXT Collaboration (27-39 May 2013)

Around 40 scientists met with the objective of analyzing the most crucial aspects of the construction of the NEXT experiment (“Neutrino Telescope with a Xenon TPC”) approved experiment in process of installation at the LSC.
Carried out by an international collaboration, aims to discover new aspects and broaden the knowledge of the nature of the neutrinos through this neutrino-less double beta decay experiment.
